Sagan Sagan Sagan: third win at the USA Pro Cycling Challenge

August 24 – Also the sixth stage of USA Pro Cycling Challenge bears the signature of Peter Sagan. The Slovakian champion claimed his third win in the American race (stage from Loveland to Fort Collins, 185 km) leaded by the great job of team Cannondale Pro Cycling. Sagan won the sprint leaving behind Megzec and Van Avermaet after that his teammates closed the gap with the breakaway. Sagan decided also to attack at 12 km to go, but was caught and pointed his chances to the sprint.

“When your team work all the day to let you win, you face the final sprint with an extra oomph” said Sagan. “Today’s breakaway was well equipped and dangerous, my teammates did really something. In the finale was my turn. I searched the best position, then I waited that the peloton caught Leal and Rogers to sprint at 200 metres to go. I’m really happy for this win and I want to dedicate it to our teammate Fabio Sabatini, who crashed heavily on Wednesday and now he’s in hospital. I’m happy also for the form I achieved. Honestly, I didn’t think to perform so well and to win three stages before the start. Tomorrow, the Denver’s circuit, is another big chance, then I’ll focus on the races in Canada and on the World championship. A victory in Florence? Why not? My goal now is to prepare this race in the best way, then we’ll see”.

With the victory in Fort Collins, Sagan is now the most winning rider in the season with 17 wins (16 for Cavendish, 15 for Kittel) while in career (since 2010) he is now at 52. Cannondale Pro Cycling collected the 28th success in 2013.
